Hiring Procedure
To become a Reserve Police Recruit you must complete the following steps:
- Meet all entrance requirements and minimum standards.
- Complete an application with the Reserve Unit.
- Pass the written Reserve aptitude test.
- First Contact Interview at the Reserve Office.
- Physical agility test.
- Polygraph examination
- Complete Personal History Form
- Background investigation
- Department Interview Board
Passing all of the above steps will place you on the Reserve eligibility list. If selected from the eligibility list for appointment, you will proceed to the last steps:
- Psychological evaluation
- Physical examination
- Cooper's Run (1 1/2 mile in a maximum of 14 minutes).
- Appointment to the Wichita Police Reserve Academy by the Chief of Police.
